Jericho was founded in 2008 by Singer Geoff Taylor and guitarist Jase Byrne. Based in Brisbane, Geoff Taylor and Jase had already been playing together as a duo for quite some time in many clubs around south east Queensland, and decided it was time to kick it up a notch and get a full rockin band on the road.

Armed with their passion for good pub rock and good country rock, they found a drummer and have hit the road running. Already a successful duo, Geoff Taylor and Jase used their reputation to launch the band firstly in the city of Toowoomba where they enjoy a good following and never fail to please the crowd or the pub management with their unswerving ability to play the right music to the right crowd and keep the patrons in the venue.

Geoff Taylor and Jase have been known to play over 3 hours straight in order to keep the crowd in the venue. These guys understand that every crowd is different and craft each show accordingly. Their ability to read the crowd, interact with them and give them what they want, has established them as the number one covers band in Toowoomba.

Their choice of music and dedication to always giving 110% in every show made them so popular with one hotel in that Jericho is now exclusive to the Shamrock Hotel in Toowoomba.

Not only do they play the right songs, and play them well, but they also use quality PA equipment to help deliver the best possible sound at every gig. Powered by Mackie speakers, their sound quality is second to none at this level of entertainment.

Geoff Taylor/Lead Singer/Bass Guitarist

Geoff Taylor has been in the entertainment industry since he started performing for friends in primary school. An orphan found on the steps of a Tibetan monastery in the snowy mountains, Geoff knew he was destined to play music from the time he purchased his first kazoo.

Advancing quickly to the triangle and tambourine, Geoff soon had his sites set on the bass guitar as an instrument to hide behind. Singing came on after a nasty lawn bowls accident when Geoff was mistaken for the jack.

After months of emotional therapy, Geoff discovered he could remember all the words to such songs as Hotel California and Sultans of swing. This ensured Geoff the singers position in any band since no-one else could remember the words and the music at the same time.

Jase (Feel the) Byrne/Lead Guitarist

Jase was originally thought to be an illegitimate child of Eddie Van Halen, but this was soon discarded as a myth once he picked up a guitar. One story tells of a man who appeared in an opal mine in Lightning Ridge one hot summers day with a guitar in hand and a sign that read, "Nashville or Bust".. No one knows where he came from or where he went. But we like to think it was Jase......

With a love of good rock and good country rock, Jase whales out the notes like a freight train bound for glory and running late. Jase was once interviewed by an out of work possum hunter and was asked what he likes most about playing in a rock band. "I'm just waiting for the chickens to hatch" Jase replied!

Nonetheless, armed with his Fender Tele, a pick and a whole lot of talent in a can (Jim Beam) Jase adds a whole new dimension to the music and backing vocals of Jericho.

Matthew (Prince of pound) Owen/Drummer

Matt was the original drummer for The Beatles way back in 1960 before they became famous. However, on his way home from a gig at the cavern, Matt walked into a quantum singularity and was swept through a time rift that left him stranded in 2006.

With nothing but his drumsticks in hand, he worked 8 days a week and the occasional hard day’s night as a bumper sticker licker in order to make ends meet until he could re-establish himself on the rock scene.

With his passion for hard hitting rhythm, Matt literally plays till he bleeds and then some. He is undoubtedly the driving force behind Jericho.
